Younger Children’s Activity Pages

Older Children’s Activity Pages

Good morning!  This page is intended to both serve as a continuing worship option for those participating in our worship service from home, and to serve in place of print resources during our in-person worship.  Following the worship service on Sunday, one or more video recordings from the service will be placed on this page, including the sermon.  This may take several hours, due to the time needed to process the videos.  We will email the congregation when the recordings have been posted.  If you would like to be added to our congregational email list, please contact pvcob.alive@gmail.com.

  • If you have previously ordered weekly giving envelopes, your box of envelopes for 2022 is in the church narthex. If you do not wish to continue with the weekly envelopes, or, if you have not previously used these pre-assigned envelopes for tracking your giving and would like to start, please contact Sharon Reich. Note: If you wish to recieve a giving statement at the end of the year, please use the envelopes or our online giving platform so that we can track your annual donations. Thank you!

  • Backpack Pals are accepting donations of Pudding Cups and Ramen Noodles! Pudding cups are especially needed. Please leave any donations in the blue bin located in the Narthex.  Thank you!

  • Get your high-tops and Jordans laced back up! Pleasant Valley is back at it again for 2022 – an Adult Men’s Basketball Team. Games will be played twice (2x) a week from March through May at Eastern Mennonite High School. If interested, please contact James Hall by February 1st, 2022 at the following: jehall8084@gmail.com or call/text (540) 569-6263.
  • Our congregational business meeting is coming up on February 13. We will hold the meeting as part of our comined worship service that Sunday.

We are invited by Christ, to come, blessed by God, to inherit every beauty and miracle that has been prepared by for us. We are invited to see rainbows that do not yet shine, to eat fruit that has not yet been planted, and to know grace that we will never deserve. But God is preparing all these things. The kingdom of God is all around, if only we will stretch out our hands to grasp it. Let us lift our arms in welcome and praise this morning.

Holy God,
you alone are worthy of honor and praise.
Open our eyes to see the world as you see it.
Give us the wisdom to witness your presence in all people.
Transform us in grace,
grow us in our faith,
call us to love with a full heart
and to share your promises with all people. Amen.

Hebrews 3:1-6 NRSV

Therefore, brothers and sisters, holy partners in a heavenly calling, consider that Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses also ‘was faithful in all God’s house.’ Yet Jesus is worthy of more glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house has more honour than the house itself. (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that would be spoken later. Christ, however, was faithful over God’s house as a son, and we are his house if we hold firm the confidence and the pride that belong to hope.

Let all the church say:
The Lord is my helper! My shade at my right hand. I will not be afraid!
Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect the stranger. Remember those imprisoned.
The Lord is my helper! I will not be afraid!
Lift up before God your commitments. Do not waver in honor and love.
The Lord is my helper! I will not be afraid!
Do not be swayed. Do not be owned by money or worldly powers. Live with confidence in God’s strength and care.
The Lord is my helper! I will not be afraid! Praise the Lord!
Amen!

God of all real hope and salvation
You are the one who sees the hearts of your children,
Who knows when they are struggling
and who is willing to carry the burden with them.
You came in Jesus,
knowing that we deceive ourselves about which way to go.
You came to walk our path yourself
to heal our eyes and steady our steps.
You forgave, and corrected, and opened the door to new life.
So we pray to you today,
Our God who has come for our sake,
To awaken us to your presence among us.
Remind us when we do not know where to go,
That you are directing us towards compassion and justice,
That we will know your joy when we share,
That we will know your peace when we encourage,
That we will discover your righteousness in the sacrifices of self-giving love.
Help us to let go of our insecurities.
Deliver us from fears that herd us on the path of conformity.
Give us courage to live in Jesus example.
We pray today, for our brothers and sisters who are in mourning.

We ask your Spirit to encourage those of us who are wrestling with change.
We ask your blessing on the healing taking place in the lives around us.
May your light be made visible as we seek to follow you.
May the joy of renewed life be something we share every day.
May your kingdom come, for all of your children.
In Jesus we pray, Amen.

We walk a path marked by Jesus.
So let us lay aside every weight that hinders
and follow boldly with confidence and love,
looking to the one who has taken his seat
at the right hand of God. Amen.
