I saw Satan fall like lightning
I saw darkness run for cover
But the miracle that I just can’t get over
My name is registered in heaven

Verse 2
I believe in signs and wonders
I have resurrection power
Still the miracle that I just can’t get over
My name is registered in heaven
My praise belongs to You forever

Chorus
This is my testimony from death to life
‘Cause grace rewrote my story I’ll testify
By Jesus Christ the Righteous I’m justified
This is my testimony
This is my testimony

Verse 3
Come together sons and daughters
Bought with blood and washed in water
Sing the praises of the Spirit Son and Father
Our God will finish what He started
Our God will finish what He started

Chorus
This is my testimony from death to life
‘Cause grace rewrote my story I’ll testify
By Jesus Christ the Righteous I’m justified
This is my testimony
This is my testimony

Bridge (4X)
If I’m not dead You’re not done
Greater things are still to come
Oh I believe

Luke 15:11-32 NRSV

Then Jesus* said, ‘There was a man who had two sons. The younger of them said to his father, “Father, give me the share of the property that will belong to me.” So he divided his property between them. A few days later the younger son gathered all he had and travelled to a distant country, and there he squandered his property in dissolute living. When he had spent everything, a severe famine took place throughout that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed the pigs. He would gladly have filled himself with* the pods that the pigs were eating; and no one gave him anything.

But when he came to himself he said, “How many of my father’s hired hands have bread enough and to spare, but here I am dying of hunger! I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me like one of your hired hands.’ ” So he set off and went to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him. Then the son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.”* But the father said to his slaves, “Quickly, bring out a robe—the best one—and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. And get the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found!” And they began to celebrate.

‘Now his elder son was in the field; and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing. He called one of the slaves and asked what was going on. He replied, “Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has got him back safe and sound.” Then he became angry and refused to go in. His father came out and began to plead with him. But he answered his father, “Listen! For all these years I have been working like a slave for you, and I have never disobeyed your command; yet you have never given me even a young goat so that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!” Then the father* said to him, “Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found.” ’

Far, far away from my loving father

Verse 1

Far, far away from my loving father,
I had been wandring wayward, wild, fearing only
lest his anger overtake his sinful child.

Verse 2

Fain had I fed on the husks around me,
till to myself I came and said, “Plenty have my
father’s servants, perish I for want of bread.”

Verse 3

I will arise, though faint and weary,
home to my father I will go. Woe to me that
ever I wandered, ah, that I such need should know.

Verse 4

“Father,” I’ll say, “I have sinned before thee,
no more may I be called thy son. Make me only
as thy servant, pity me, a wretch undone!”

Verse 5

Then I arose and came to my father.
Mercy amazing! Love unkown! He beheld me,
ran, embraced me, pardoned, welcomed, calle me “son!”

Refrain

I will arise and go to Jesus,
he will embrace me in his arms. In the arms of
my dear Savior, oh, there are ten thousand charms.

God is with us at all times. In the winds and the waves, we are reminded that Jesus was with the disciples. In the sun and the breeze, we are reminded that in the beginning God hung the sun in the sky, and the spirit of God blew over the waters. We are loved and blessed by God, and are privileged to share God’s blessings.

Holy, Loving, Father,
we give thanks to you today
for teaching us to call you Father.
You remind us that you were there at our beginning;
that you are our beginning,
and that at the end we will return home to you.
We will dance in halls of your construction.
We will sing in streets laid by your hands.

We thank you today, for the way you modeled to live in this world:
for sitting to eat with your children,
for listening in love,
for correcting and leading,
for showing us paths that lead to life lived well,
for explaining what to value
and what to hold loosely.
Because of you, we love.
Because of your love,
we serve, and laugh,
and celebrate the gifts given in each other.

In the times when your joy feels far away,
when all is brokeness and sorrow instead,
in the places where children hunger,
fathers mourn, and mothers weep,
we are reassured by your promise
that you will not leave us abandoned,
but that you come with healing power.

We pray for our brothers and sisters around the world;
that you would break the bow and shatter the spear.
We ask that you would give us eyes of compassion
and eyes of hope to see another way.
Remind us of the joy of sharing.
Remind us that feasts need celebrants to share them with.
Remind us that our greatest promise
is the table that you will set for us all together.

Forgive us, O God, for the times that we have wandered far away from you.
Help us to welcome each other with the same grace that you share,
Remembering that we are all your children.
In you, Father, Son, and Spirit, we pray, Amen.

Praise You in This Storm

Verse 1
I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again I’ll say amen
And it’s still rainin’

Pre-Chorus
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper
Through the rain
I’m with You
And as Your mercy falls
I’ll raise my hands
And praise the God who gives
And takes away

Chorus 1
And I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And ev’ry tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

Verse 2
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
And raised me up again
But my strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You

Bridge
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of heaven and earth

Chorus 1
And I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And ev’ry tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

Praise You In this Storm

by Jeremiah Padilla, David Tate, and Joshua Burtner | Streamed with permission. CSPL121366

We call on the Lord,
and Jesus answers us.

But before we even speak,
the Spirit is seeking us out.

Go and dare God’s good,
knowing, you are in the care
of our ever-loving God. Amen.
