Younger Children’s Activity Pages

Older Children’s Activity Pages

Good morning!  This page is intended to both serve as a continuing worship option for those participating in our worship service from home, and to serve in place of print resources during our in-person worship.  Following the worship service on Sunday, one or more video recordings from the service will be placed on this page, including the sermon.  This may take several hours, due to the time needed to process the videos.  We will email the congregation when the recordings have been posted.  If you would like to be added to our congregational email list, please contact pvcob.alive@gmail.com.

  • Indoor seating is available in the sanctuary with the live stream of the service on the screen.

  • We are planning a Brethren Disaster Ministries trip to Dayton, Ohio for August 22 -28. If you ar interested in participating, or would like more information, please contact Eddie Meyerhoeffer.

In John 15 Jesus says, “I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.” He continues with the promise that we are to be a part of God’s good work in the world, reminding us that he lays down his very life for our sake. We gather this morning, as branches of Christ’s vine, to celebrate the works of love that last in our own hearts and around the world. Let us stand and sing

ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING

Verse 1

All creatures of our God and King,
lift up your voice and let us sing
Alleluia, alleluia!
The burning sun with golden beam,
the silver moon with softer gleam,
O sing all, O sing all, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Verse 2

O rushing wind that is so strong, the clouds
that sail in heav’n along,
Alleluia, alleluia!
The rising morn in praise rejoice, O lights of
evening, find a voice,
O sing all, O sing all, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Verse 3

O flowing water, pure and clear, make
music for your Lord to hear,
Alleluia, alleluia!
The fire so masterful and bright, that gives
all warmth and light,
O sing all, O sing all, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Verse 4

Let all things their creator bless, and worship
God in humbleness,
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise, praise our God and praise the Son, and
praise the Spirit, three in one,
O sing all, O sing all, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Gracious God of heaven and earth, we are creations of your hands, formed of dust and as fading as the grass. Yet you have shaped us to be vessels of your spirit as well. We gather here this morning trusting in your promise that you will not leave us empty, but will fill us with your blessings for all creation. Send your spirit to make us overflow, with joy and celebration, with love and compassion, with hope and peace. Make us your vessels, we pray, in Jesus name, Amen.

John 15:1-9 NRSV

‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine-grower. He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love.

Guide My Feet

Verse 1

Guide my feet while I run this race,
Guide my feet while I run this race,
Guide my feet while I run this race,
for I don’t want to run this race in vain!

Verse 2

Hold my hand while I run this race,
Hold my hand while I run this race,
Hold my hand while I run this race,
for I don’t want to run this race in vain!

Verse 3

Stand by me while I run this race,
Stand by me while I run this race,
Stand by me while I run this race,
for I don’t want to run this race in vain!

Verse 4

I’m your child while I run this race,
I’m your child while I run this race,
I’m your child while I run this race,
for I don’t want to run this race in vain!

Verse 5

Search my heart while I run this race,
Search my heart while I run this race,
Search my heart while I run this race,
for I don’t want to run this race in vain!

Verse 6

Guide my feet while I run this race,
Guide my feet while I run this race,
Guide my feet while I run this race,
for I don’t want to run this race in vain!

Jesus calls to us

Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. (John 15:4)

We trust in God

Christ is our Life!

Paul reminds us

the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Gal 5:22-23)

We trust in God

Christ is our Life!

Jesus prayed for us

As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us… I in them and you in me…so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you                                    have loved me. (John 15:21-23)

We trust in God

Christ is our Life!

Let us abide by God’s Spirit and know God’s fruit in our living.

God shapes us for purposes greater than our own, to not be captive to the flesh, but instead to bear the image of the heavenly, giving evidence of God’s love in Jesus Christ. As Jesus turned ordinary water into wine of celebration, may our offerings, service, and prayers also be blessed, truly born of God and God’s love. God shapes us for purposes greater than our own, to not be captive to the flesh, but instead to bear the image of the heavenly, giving evidence of God’s love in Jesus Christ. Gracious and mighty God,
You give us seeds to sow,
But even before there were seeds
You were writing the DNA within.
You imagined flowers.
You dreamed leaves and trunks.
You saw your children, living together, and sharing your peace.

But when the seeds came to flourish
It became clear that others had sown as well.
And our soil had been more receptive to their words than your own.
We rooted ourselves in fearfulness.
We reached towards greed and protectiveness.
We set thorns in proliferation
and blamed others and you when we were always getting scratched.

But then your word took on flesh to live among us,
Accepting pain and torn flesh in order to teach us a new way.
Jesus came as the gardener to prune away unfruitful weight,
to help us stand upright, blossom and bloom,
and produce love and grace again
sharing shade, shelter, and life with others.

Holy are you, God of all life,
and blessed is Jesus, our Brother, our Savior.

We open our hands
so we may receive your gifts
and be touched by your Spirit of life,
so we might be strengthened
to go forth into the world,
to bring healing to the broken,
to offer hope to the desperate.
We open our souls to be nourished,
filled to overflowing by your Spirit of compassion,
so we may serve as your heart in all those places where the lonely live,
so we might become a community
welcoming the lost, the last, the little, the least.

And when all time has come to an end,
when, by your wisdom, we are gathered
with our sisters and brothers around your Table,
we will sing our songs of joy forever and ever, Amen.

How He Loves

He is jealous for me loves like a hurricane
I am a tree bending beneath
The weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden I am unaware of
These afflictions eclipsed by glory
I realize just how beautiful You are
And how great Your affections are for me

Pre-Chorus
Oh how He loves us so
Oh how He loves us
How He loves us so

Chorus
He loves us
Oh how He loves us
Oh how He loves us
Oh how He loves

Verse 2
We are His portion and He is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If grace is an ocean we’re all sinking
So Heaven meets earth
Like a sloppy wet (unforeseen) kiss
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets
When I think about the way that

Chorus
He loves us
Oh how He loves us
Oh how He loves us
Oh how He loves

Now, may our God,
who gardens the forests and seas
who shapes sequoias and feeds the sparrows
who gives every growth and blessing
tend your ways,
and guide your feet
to the path of Christ’s joy and holiness.
Go in God’s care, Amen.
