What to Expect When You Visit
When you arrive at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, located at 91 Valley Church Rd in Weyers Cave, VA, you’ll find our main parking lot behind the church. Feel free to enter through the closest door to where you park. One of our friendly greeters will welcome you as you enter. We welcome you to complete our New Visitor form so we can prepare for your visit and follow up with you afterwards, if interested.
Sunday School
If you arrive early enough, you’ll be directed to one or more of our age-appropriate Sunday school classes or to the Narthex, our welcoming space where people gather for fellowship, coffee, and snacks.
Worship Service
Our integrated worship service begins with gathering music in the sanctuary from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM, building expectation for the service and providing music lovers a bit more time to sing along or to listen reflectively. At 10:30 AM, we transition into a time of welcome and announcements, led by our pastor or one of our church leaders. From there, you’ll experience a blend of contemporary and traditional elements that make our service engaging and meaningful for all.
The service usually lasts about an hour and includes:
- Sharing & Prayer: A time to come together in shared prayer, offering both praises and petitions.
- Scripture Reading: Centering on God’s word, we hear passages from the Bible that guide and inspire.
- Music: A mix of hymns and contemporary worship songs, accompanied by instruments such as piano, guitar, or organ. You are welcome to join in singing or simply listen and reflect.
- Message: Our pastor will share a sermon, offering biblical insight and practical applications for living out your faith in today’s world.
If you prefer balcony seating, stairs in the Narthex will lead you there, offering a view from above.
We strive to create an atmosphere of inclusiveness and connection, where you can engage as much as you feel comfortable. Whether it’s your first visit or you’ve been with us for years, we’re excited to worship and grow together in Christ’s Spirit.
