Older Children’s
Bulletin

Good morning!  This page is intended to both serve as a continuing worship option for those participating in our worship service from home, and to serve in place of print resources during our in-person worship.  Following the worship service on Sunday, one or more video recordings from the service will be placed on this page, including the sermon.  This may take several hours, due to the time needed to process the videos.  We will email the congregation when the recordings have been posted.  If you would like to be added to our congregational email list, please contact pvcob.alive@gmail.com.

We will be resuming worshiping in the sanctuary next Sunday, at 10:30 AM. Social Distancing and masks will be an essential part of ensuring that all are able to worship safely. More details will come in this week’s Pastoral Letter.

The Church Board will be meeting this evening at 6:30 PM.

Packing for Backpack Pals will be restarting this week on Tuesday evening at 5:00 PM. We will be preparing food bags for over 100 students.

Please be praying for educators, students, and parents preparing for the new school year.

Please be praying for those suffering from Covid-19, including President Trump, his family, and other government officials, and those caring for them.

Please pray for those suffering from other illnesses during this time.

Call to Worship

Leader: We Belong to Christ

People: Christ has made us his own.

Leader: It’s not because of our status or power, our credentials or reputation.

People: Christ has made us his own.

Leader: It’s not because of our own righteousness, but because of the love of the One who is God’s righteousness.

People: Christ has made us his own.

Leader: Let us press on, then, following in Jesus’ way! By sharing in his sacrifice, we enter into new life.

People: Christ has made us his own.

Leader: May we push aside all that distracts us – all that trips us up – as we run the race set before us.

People: Christ has made us his own.

Leader: Above all, may we want to know Christ. May we be found in his grace, transformed by his love!

All: Christ has made us his own. Thanks be to God!

Take My Life

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise, let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for thee, swift and beautiful for thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing; always, only for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from thee, filled with messages from thee.

Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use ev’ry pow’r as thou shalt choose, ev’ry pow’r as thou shalt choose.

Take My Life

God of all Creation
Who was with our ancestors, is with us today, and will be with our descendants,
You are faithful to every generation!
And so we call to you today,
confident that you will hear and respond.
We pray that you will bring comfort to those that are ailing and hurting.
Heal the wounds that are present.
Cure the diseases that incapacitate and destroy.
Strengthen us in your compassion.
Make us as responsive to our neighbors pain as we are to our own.
Help us to become a part of each others healing.
Because you have promised, O God,
that you will bring a redemption where pain and sorrow will be brought to an end.
And we long for the day, when peace will prevail over all the earth.
Break break the bread of Christ for us,
to strengthen body and soul, answering our hunger for nourishment and righteousness.
Teach us to live well, remembering that you are the one who can make us right and whole.
Hear the confessions that we hide deep within our hearts.
Lead us to the place where we can lay them bare before you
and discover the depth of your cleansing grace.
Remind us that you have come so that we can be born again
and that you desire to make this whole world new!
Make us new today, we pray. Amen.

Jeremiah 29:4-14
Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let the prophets and the diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams that they dream, for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, says the Lord.
For thus says the Lord: Only when Babylon’s seventy years are completed will I visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me, says the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.

Through the course of this year, through a strange time, that we pray will be nothing like what we will see again, you have remained the church. You have shown your commitment to God by continuing to care for others, even as life may have become more challenging for yourself. You have answered trial with generosity, because it is what Jesus has done for us. By sharing through our community needs fund, by donating and assembling care kits for children, by sewing masks, shopping for others, and giving extra volunteer hours to the church, you have given witness to the vitality of God’s love.
Thank you, and may God continue to strengthen us in Spirit, so we may know and share his glory.

God who creates both sun and rain,
You pour out your love as generously as the waters fall,
with intention that we should be able to grow as your children.
You give us rich times in which we are grow
and lean times that teach us strength.
You are present in them all, our Savior and our Lord.
We have seen your presence among us this year.
We have seen the fruits that were born by deep roots
grown from seed planted long ago.
We thank you for those who did that planting,
who taught us about your story and your love
and helped us to find our place in both.
Now, Lord, as we prepare to move into a new phase this winter,
knowing that the time of challenge and trial is not finished,
we ask that you will continue to equip and strengthen us
in every gift of your Spirit.
Help us to live together wisely and compassionately
and to plant more seeds that will help others to see your glory.
In Jesus we pray, Amen.

God of Wonders

Lord of all creation
of water, earth, and sky,
the heavens are your tabernacle;
glory to the Lord on high.

Chorus:
God of wonders, beyond our galaxy,
you are holy, holy.
The universe declares your majesty,
you are holy, holy.
Lord of heaven and earth,
Lord of heaven and earth.

Early in the morning,
I will celebrate the light.
When I stumble in the darkness,
I will call your name by night.

Chorus

Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth,
Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth,
Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth!

God of wonders, beyond our galaxy,
you are holy, holy.
Precious Lord, reveal your heart to me,
Father hold me, hold me.
The universe declares your majesty,
you are holy, holy.
God of wonders, beyond our galaxy,
you are holy, holy.
The universe declares your majesty,
you are holy, holy.

God of Wonders

In light and in shadow,
in the dew of the morning
and in noontime heat,
at the tops of the mountains,
and at your own home doorstep
may you always see that God is with you
and may your way guide others to God. Amen.
