Good morning!  This page is intended to both serve as a continuing worship option for those participating in our worship service from home, and to serve in place of print resources during our in-person worship.  Following the worship service on Sunday, one or more video recordings from the service will be placed on this page, including the sermon.  This may take several hours, due to the time needed to process the videos.  We will email the congregation when the recordings have been posted.  If you would like to be added to our congregational email list, please contact pvcob.alive@gmail.com.

  • Mildred Kaufmann would like to express her appreciation to all who helped her celebrate her 90th Birthday. “Many thanks for your many cards and phone calls!”

One:We give thanks to you, O Lord, with our whole heart;

Above all we sing your praise;

One:We bow down before your eteranl presence
giving thanks to your name.

In your steadfast love and your faithfulness;
you have exalted your name and your word above everything.

Your are our deliverance and preservation.
You raise us from dust to look towards the heavens

Great is the glory of God!
Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures for ever! Amen!

Heavenly Father,
We gather in thankfulness today.
You separated the waters from the heavens and created space for us.
You carved slopes and heights and planted beauty all around us.
You named us as your children, and refuse to forget us.
Bringing us back to the water, to refresh and renew,
to cleanse and nourish
even to die and be brought to new life.
Receive us new this morning.
Baptize us with your Spirit and ready us for your presence.
Open our hearts to celebrate in holy worship today! Amen.

Exodus 25:1-9 NRSV

The Lord said to Moses: Tell the Israelites to take for me an offering; from all whose hearts prompt them to give you shall receive the offering for me. This is the offering that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, blue, purple, and crimson yarns and fine linen, goats’ hair, tanned rams’ skins, fine leather, acacia wood, oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing-oil and for the fragrant incense, onyx stones and gems to be set in the ephod and for the breastpiece. And have them make me a sanctuary, so that I may dwell among them. In accordance with all that I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.

God is with us. And God’s presence is what teaches us how to live. But the path to life is not what biology teaches us. It is not about gathering together, to secure that we ourselves are fed. It is by giving and sharing and even by sacrificing. This is the way of Jesus. And it is challenging and sometimes even somber. But it is also beautiful, holy, and redeeming. It is the way in which we join together with our God who gave his life for us. Jesus’ loving sacrifice is what offers us life.

Were You There

Verse 1
Were you there when they crucified my Lord
Were you there when they crucified my Lord
O sometimes it causes me to tremble tremble tremble
Were you there when they crucified my Lord

Verse 2
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree
O sometimes it causes me to tremble tremble tremble
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree

Verse 3
Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb
Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb
O sometimes it causes me to tremble tremble tremble
Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb

Verse 4
Were you there when He rose up from the dead
Were you there when He rose up from the dead
O sometimes it causes me to tremble tremble tremble
Were you there when He rose up from the dead

Prayer of Intercession

(inspired by Psalm 138)

Gracious and eternal God,
we hunger and thirst for your righteousness
yet so often we consume what is so much less.
But you have raised up your name and your word
so that we may look up and see once more
how your steadfast love endures for ever,
how your grace redeems, heals, and satisfies.
In a world where every day
some division or strife arises
we bring our prayers for others
and for ourselves.
Do not turn from the work of your hand,
your human creation
and the world in which you have set us:
by your holy breath
comfort the lonely;
bind up the broken-hearted
and those who mourn;
calm the fearful;
rejoice with those who celebrate;
be present to those who call on your name,
to those we named on our lips,
and in the silence of our hearts.
Bring your justice into our courts
Bring your healing into our homes
Bring your hymns of praise into our every day.
Amen.

Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us

by David Tate, Jeremiah Padilla | Streamed with permission. CSPL121366

God is our light, our hope, our all in all:
Christ is our home, our life, our joy:
We depart now, but our worship continues.
May God be glorified. Amen!
