Good morning!  This page is intended to both serve as a continuing worship option for those participating in our worship service from home, and to serve in place of print resources during our in-person worship.  Following the worship service on Sunday, one or more video recordings from the service will be placed on this page, including the sermon.  This may take several hours, due to the time needed to process the videos.  We will email the congregation when the recordings have been posted.  If you would like to be added to our congregational email list, please contact pvcob.alive@gmail.com.

Notes and Reminder

The BackPack Pals program is in need of Pudding Cups and Ramen noodles. If you would like to make a donation, please leave items in the BackPack Pals bin located in the narthex.

The Disaster Mission trip in April has been moved from Dayton, Ohio to Coastal Carolina.

The Church Board will soon be considering plans for moving to outdoor worship. Please be praying for wisdom and clear discernment.

We are hoping to be able to host a concert with Jimmy Fortune in April. Please pray as we make preparations, hoping that infection numbers will continue to decrease and allow us to do so.

Minutes from our Congregational Meeting on February 14 have been distributed. Please contact the Church office if you need a copy.

Please remember in your prayers the many in and around our congregation who have been fighting illness.

The Strife is O'er

by Jeremiah Padilla | Streamed with permission. CSPL121366

From the very beginning God has called to us
To seek to be with us
To walk good paths
Together with our God in Paradise

‘To you, O people, I call,
and my cry is to all that live.

God’s word to us is wisdom.
It is righteousness and truth
It is discretion and strength
It is holiness and peace for all creation.
Overflowing with treasure for all eternity

The Lord created me at the beginning of his work,
When there were no depths I was brought forth,
I was daily his delight,
   rejoicing before him always,
rejoicing in his inhabited world
and delighting in the human race.

‘And now, beloved children, listen to God:
happy are those who keep God’s ways.
Hear instruction and be wise,
   and do not neglect it.

Happy is the one who listens to me,
For whoever finds me finds life

Our God calls to us.
Let us worship, and celebrate in the presence of our Lord.

This Little Light of Mine

This little light of mine,
I’m gonna’ let it shine.
This little light of mine,
I’m gonna’ let it shine.
This little light of mine,
I’m gonna’ let it shine.

Let it shine!
Let it shine!
Let it shine!

All through the night,
I’m gonna’ let it shine.
All through the night,
I’m gonna’ let it shine.
All through the night,
I’m gonna’ let it shine.

Let it shine!
Let it shine!
Let it shine!

This Little Light of Mine

by Joshua Burtner, Jeremiah Padilla, Sarah Padilla, and David Tate | Streamed with permission. CSPL121366

Almighty God,
You are our source of life
You formed us from dust
Placed your breath inside us
And came to us as living water in Jesus
To quench our thirst
To wash our feet
To teach us to love and celebrate in you.
In this winter season, the air can often feel dry around us.
But you send snow and rain to nourish our dry ground.
Nourish our spirits as well.
Lift our hearts and faces to you.
In Jesus we pray, Amen.

Genesis 2:4-9 NRSV

These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created.

In the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, when no plant of the field was yet in the earth and no herb of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no one to till the ground; but a stream would rise from the earth, and water the whole face of the ground— then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being. And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east; and there he put the man whom he had formed. Out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Graves into Gardens

Verse 1

I searched the world but it couldn’t fill me
Man’s empty praise and treasures that fade
are never enough
Then You came along and put me back together
And every desire is now satisfied
here in Your love

Chorus 1

Oh there’s nothing better than You
There’s nothing better than You
Lord there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You

Verse 2

I’m not afraid to show You my weakness
My failures and flaws Lord You’ve seen them all
And You still call me friend
‘Cause the God of the mountain Is the God of the valley
And there’s not a place Your mercy and grace
won’t find me again

Bridge 1

You turn mourning to dancing
You give beauty for ashes
You turn shame into glory
You’re the only one who can

Bridge 2

You turn graves into gardens
You turn bones into armies
You turn seas into highways
You’re the only one who can

Chorus 1

Oh there’s nothing better than You
There’s nothing better than You
Lord there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You

On Valentine’s day, Chelsea Timmons was out making grocery deliveries as she normally did. It was snowing where she was in Texas, but she did not think too much of it, until she pulled into a driveway and started to slide downhill towards the house. Thankfully, she did not hit the house. She came to a stop in the flower bed instead. She made her delivery and apologized to the homeowners. But then when she tried to get her car moving again, she could not get out.

The home owners, Condon and his wife, Nina Richardson tried to help her move the car, but it was to no avail. They invited Chelsea to come in to stay warm while she called AAA. AAA promised to get a tow truck out to help her, but soon it became apparent that the truck would not be arriving soon. At that point, the Richardsons invited her to stay the night with them.

Chelsea was nervous, but grateful. Still, as she lay in the strange bed, she could hardly sleep that night. But soon it became apparent that there was no way out. Chelsea considered walking to a Hotel, but the Richardsons refused to hear anything of it. Chelsea ended up staying with the Richardson for five days before she was able to return home.

One of the great things about emergency conditions is how they inspire people to help others. It’s as though disasters remind us that we are all human after all. We remember to love people because they are worthy of love.

We should not need a disaster to convince us of this though. Let’s remember that we are all God’s beloved children every day. Let’s remember that we all experience the same fall and brokeness, but that as we care for each other, we can experience the glory of God’s love too.

Mysterious God
power behind all we see
grace beyond all we know
love before all we meet,
We cannot comprehend your majesty
we only know your presence in our lives:
you, who knew us before we were born
you, who will cradle us after our last breath…
We cannot encompass your glory
instead we marvel at all the works your hand has made
and we worship and adore you.

It seems too good to be true
that you would care for mere mortals like us…
in our messy lives
often caught-up in trivialities,
that you would mould us in your own image
social creatures with a divine spark…
So good, we’d rather not believe:
rather not see your image in those around us
crying out for love and companionship
rather not see your wisdom underpinning creation
groaning at our wanton waste and exploitation

God above all, help us with our unbelief
our incredulity
our self-preserving acts
which isolate and harm…

Pour mercy into our hearts and souls
giving us eyes to see and ears to hear
your gift
in every person
every place
every moment;
For your greatness is seen in all the world:
may our words and actions be our praise of you
reaching up and out
into your Kingdom,
made real for us in the person of Jesus
who taught us so much
including how to pray:

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever, Amen.

Here I am Lord

I, the Lord of sea and sky
I have heard my people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save
I who made the stars of night
I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night
I will go, Lord
If You lead me
I will hold Your people in my heart

I the Lord of snow and rain
I have borne my peoples’ pain
I have wept for love of them
They turn away
I will break their hearts of stone
I will give them hearts for love alone
I will speak my word to them
Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night
I will go, Lord
If You lead me
I will hold Your people in my heart

Here I Am Lord

by Jeremiah Padilla, Sarah Padilla, and David Tate | Streamed with permission. CSPL121366

Go now, remembering that the God who created light created you as well.

Go knowing, that God is love and came in Jesus to be our path to life.

Go believing, that God is around you and this present is a gift given for all to share. Amen.
