Pleasant Valley fields bicycle team for Multiple Sclerosis Benefit Ride

The countdown is on! Pleasant Valley has a four person team participating in the annual Tour de Vine on Saturday June, 12th. The Tour de Vine is a benefit bicycle ride held in Charlottesville, VA each year. The proceeds of the ride support folks in central Virginia who suffer with MS. This year, Team Valley is riding in honor of Nancy Metcalfe, a teacher at Verona Elementary School who suffers with MS. Team Valley is Bo & Angela Hammond and Stacy & Matthew Fike. Remember them as they ride through the hills of Charlottesville!! Donate to MS Here!

Yardsale for Hope Chapel

Yard Sale to promote Hope Chapel in the Verona Community, starts at 8am on Saturday the 22nd at the Fire Department. Can pick up larger items, call Jon Prater for info at 540-294-1306. Tables available at 7:30, come to help serve coffee if you want to help.

Disaster Auction Update

The Shenandoah District Disaster Ministries Auction is pleased to announce estimated proceeds of $190,000 from this weekend’s event at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds! God certainly blessed us with wonderful weather, faithful, hardworking volunteers and a great crowd of folks, some of whom traveled from as far away as Pennsylvania and Ohio. Here are some numbers from the weekend:

1299 tickets sold for the Friday evening Oyster/Ham Dinner

78 gallons of oysters fried and eaten

171 pancakes and 335 omelets eaten on Saturday morning

330 lunch tickets sold for Saturday’s lunch

A more detailed accounting of the weekend’s proceeds will be provided after all expenses and revenues are processed. The Auction Coordinating Committee would like to thank everyone who helped to make the weekend a success. Your generosity ensures that the Shenandoah District and Brethren Disaster Ministries will be able to continue to respond in the name of Christ with money, supplies and volunteers when and wherever disaster strikes.

On March 20th, 2010 Emily Fagan, Amanda Wilson, and Lindsay Jobe gave a benefit concert for Hope Chapel. This ministry, started by Pleasant Valley, now includes several Brethren Churches in the area. Services are held at the Verona Fire Department two Sunday evenings a month.

L.E.A.P. of Faith was several years ago along with their parents, Gary and Phyllis Fagan. The group has sung at many churches throughout Virginia. The concert included a variety of music from the old, loved hymns to contemporary praise music. The songs are now available to download:

Softball Season Is Underway!

Kyle Myers is coaching the Pleasant Valley Church softball team again this year and the games have begun! We got off to a rocky start with a loss to Mt. Horeb/Stone on Monday, May 3rd. Come show your support and cheer for our team! The next game is Wednesday, May 5 @ 6:30 pm vs. Mt. Pleasant.

The Reunion

The Reunion: Where Have All The Flowers Gone, the 2010 Pleasant Valley Dinner Theater production was a great success! Nearly $1700.00 was raised for mission work. Thanks to Lynda Sheffer and Anne Bowman for writing and producing, and a special thanks to the cast, cooks, servers and musicians for making this a great success!!
